There is a revival happening in the art department. Mrs. Laura McFaden, our new high school art teacher, is working with her students to create new works of art.

The students are learning how to apply the Scriptures to the elements of art and then use that to convey their messages. “One of the things that I hope my students get out of art classes is that God has given them each talents to use and to share with the world,” said Mrs. McFaden.

The 3D Sculpture class is using a variety of colors and plastic materials to create pieces based off of the Resurrection. One of these students is sophomore Serena Selk, who designed her piece with the idea of how strong Christ is, and the fact that God gave Him to us to save us. Selk created an uplifting sculpture by creating three lines going up, depicting Jesus’ resurrection. First, Serena cut out the pieces, spray painted and melted them; then, finished up by hot gluing it all together. “I used blue and red because it’s the color of King’s and King’s is all about Christ,” Selk explained. These students are brightening up the library by displaying various creations on the shelves, so stop by to see their new works of art.
