For the first time in history the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians faced off in the 2016 Baseball World Series Championship in Cleveland Ohio. Both teams played their hardest, but in the end the Cubs claimed the title of National Champions after their Game 7 victory.

The Cubs took an early lead over the Indians in the first inning starting off with a home run and ended strong with a score of 8-7. This was a monumental victory for the Cubs, as it was their first National Championship victory since 1908. This is also the first time in seventy-one years that they made it so far in the National Championships. What is even more astounding is that the Cubs recovered from what seemed to be an impossible 3-1 disadvantage and kept that momentum going by winning the next three games. As spectacular as this victory was for the Cubs it was as equally disappointing for the Indians. “It’s going to hurt,” said Indians manager Terry Francona, “It hurts because we care, but they need to walk with their head held high because they left nothing on the field. And that’s all we ever ask them to do. They tried until there was nothing left.” Each team fought their hardest to bring home this long awaited victory but at the end of the day it was the Cubs who landed on top.

The Cleveland Indian fans may want to put this series behind them as quickly as possible but for the Cubs this historical victory will live on forever. They recovered from their enormous deficit and received a well-deserved victory. Not only that, but this overwhelming triumph sparked a fire in the Cubs to make them a contender for the next championship.
